THE FASHION SHOW

MIDNIGHT BLOOM

In her final semester at Iowa State and grad school, Anka returned to her role as set design director. Collaborating with three other directors, she led a group of design students in crafting two stunning sets for the 2024 Fashion Show. From teaching power tool basics to mastering budgeting, Anka brought boundless positivity and organizational finesse to the team. It was a culmination of creativity, collaboration, and hands-on craftsmanship!

At the heart of the fashion show lies the vital collaboration among all teams, ensuring a cohesive vision that aligns with the brand guidelines set by the art team. From photography and garment arrangement to website design, music, and set design, each element harmonizes to create a seamless experience. Meanwhile, teams like Personal Relations, Marketing, and Philanthropy work tirelessly to promote and expand the show's community impact. With numerous minds and hands coming together, the production of the show is truly a gratifying endeavor.

The process kicks off with submissions of mood boards, followed by a round of voting to narrow down the selection and finishing with brainstorming sessions for the show's name.

Once a name is selected, the Art Team creates a brand guideline for all the creative teams to follow.

Next, the Set Design committee creates mood boards and schematic designs for what the two set designs could look like.

Then, the Set Design Directors collect all the ideas and produce two final designs, and the process of “how” to build the sets begins!

For the next two months, the Set Design team meets for 10 hours a week to work as a team to create the components for the two sets.

The week of the show, the Set Design team spends three days setting up & getting ready for curtain call!

After many hours of collaborating, the two set designs are ready to make their debut!
