Week Two

Every Second Counts week two was such a blast! I am enjoying making something new in a different medium everyday SO much!

Here are some of the things I learned this week

  1. It is really important to learn when to post on social media and what kind of content goes on each platform.

    • I researched what times to post on TikTok vs. Instagram, and I am still experimenting as to which times work best for my following.

    • Posting on stories is very crucial (but I still don’t do it as much as I should)

    • Using the right hashtags can boost a post to new customers and viewers.

    • Hooks are super important when it comes to video content!

  2. I tried a giveaway post this week on TikTok

    • I made it so every order I received during week two would be put into a drawing, and whoever won would get a free water bottle holder sent to them

    • Long story short, it didn’t work, but I also could have advertised it more

  3. I also experimented with switching up my videos for each platform rather than using the same for both

    • it takes a little more work, but the responses I am getting are getting better!

I might not be getting the big responses I care to be getting on social media right now, but I am truly okay with that because I am having just the time of my life making a new project every day! I am such a lucky girl that the timing worked out, and I got to go on this journey before starting a full-time job! I get to use up some of my old supplies, meet new people online every so often, and make something I have been wanting to do for a long time. It has been a blast, and hopefully, I can figure out how to make it a sustainable living practice one day, but until then, we are just enjoying ourselves and LEARNING!!!

This week, orders slowed down, but that is okay! I was able to clean up my website, get finances in order from the pop-up during week one, and focus on the social media content. I also received the largest custom order to date from my grad school friend, Emily. She ordered 20 pairs of custom earrings for her friend’s golf tournament in August, and I was so excited to be able to provide something so special!

A lot of lessons have been learned so far, and a lot of self-esteem and confidence have been built throughout this process. something I have been chewing on for many years is that I need to solidify my art style to make a cohesive brand and something that is recognizable to my name. I thought maybe this series would help with that, but every project this week looks as if it could have come from a different creator. I don’t hate that style, but my feed is starting to get a little confusing. Which is OKAY! The only way to discover what you like is to make new and different things.

The goal after this series is to settle on a style and keep building the brand!

Here are the projects I did this week

  • June 14 - Gelli Plate Image Transfers turned to Gelli Plate textures

  • June 15 - Benson Boone album cover tribute

  • June 16 - Hoya Flower painting experimentation for Father’s Day

  • June 17 - Water Bottle Holder Giveaway

  • June 18 - Hand Rendering of my Favorite Home

  • June 19 - Embroidery Beaded Tank Top

  • June 20 - Heaven Now What (2021) painting edit

It was a great week, and I really enjoyed the way I displayed the content! I am traveling next week and had to do a lot of math to figure out what supplies I can travel with, how to fit it into my schedule and take time off to enjoy the people I am with!
